Ms Akumah an avid advocate for a safe working environment and and social protection, is championing the course of Health and Safety on the Ghana District Hospital Project and is an excellent leader. Currently, engaged as the Health and Safety Advisor, she oversees the Health and Safety department of Business Process Design Ltd.
A strong member of the BPDL, team, Emily has ensured that Health and Safety is part of the day-to-day running of project activities and ensuring capacity building of local Ghanaian contractors by establishing programs and trainings for all stakeholders. She acts as the bridge between the all project teams and government regulatory agencies to ensure compliance of sensitive areas. An experienced change maker that she is, she deals directly with senior managers of all contractors and project management team to ensure that adequate guidance is provided to manage contracts and bidding processes towards safe operations on project sites.
Prior joining Business Process Design Limited, Emily had worked independently; as a trainer in Health and Safety whiles helping small organizations establish Health and Safety as part of their business processes. She has also worked with various organizations in Ghana in sectors such as manufacturing, automotive as well as general services, providing technical advisory and training to the workforce.
Emily studied for her MSc Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management from Brunel University, London and further pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety at the Workplace from the University of Turin and International Labour Organization Training Centre in Turin, Italy. Before returning to Ghana after studies abroad, she worked briefly at MacGregor Pusnes AS, Arendal, Norway with the Life Cycle Services department of the operations as well as Alsen Day care in Finsbury Park, London
